We are currently questioning how the job landscape will be different in 10 years based on the deep changes that AI and technology will bring. We fear which jobs will disappear, adapt or be created in the most advanced economies.
However, jobs disappearing is not new. If we look at the past, we find that technological improvements have always meant the extinction for a lot of jobs, at the same time as the the creation of new ones.
We have researched about jobs that no longer exist: some of them disappeared centuries ago and some of them just some decades ago. At the same time, some are still quite extended in some areas of the world and some of them are coming back again.
We believe that to think about the future, is good to learn about the past.
